Our Pruning Services
Intentional cuts to encourage growth, improve structure, and enhance the visual harmony of your landscape.
Precision Hedging
We establish clean lines and dense growth for privacy screens and formal garden elements. Regular trimming keeps hedges tight and prevents them from overgrowing their boundaries.
Shrub Rejuvenation
Overgrown shrubs lose their natural shape and lower-level foliage. We use selective thinning cuts to let light into the interior, encouraging new growth from the base up, restoring the plant's natural beauty without the harsh "sheared" look.

Small & Ornamental Trees
Specimen trees like Japanese Maples, Dogwoods, and small fruit trees require a delicate touch. We focus on structural pruning—removing crossing branches, deadwood, and water sprouts to ensure proper air flow and an elegant canopy structure.
Service applies to trees accessible from the ground or a standard orchard ladder (under 15 feet).
When to Call a Certified Arborist
We excel at aesthetic pruning and light structural care. However, we believe in honest limits. For the safety of your property and the health of large canopy trees, certain jobs require specialized equipment and certification.

Common Questions
Understanding the basics of tree and shrub maintenance.
Why trim trees and shrubs?
Beyond keeping a tidy appearance, proper pruning is essential for plant health. Removing dead or diseased wood prevents decay from spreading. Thinning out the canopy allows sunlight and air to reach interior branches, reducing the risk of fungal diseases and encouraging vigorous, colorful growth.
When is the best time to prune?
Timing in southern Ontario is species-specific. Deadwood can be removed anytime. Spring-flowering shrubs (lilac, forsythia, weigela, mock orange) get pruned immediately after they bloom — otherwise you cut off next year’s flowers. Summer-flowering shrubs (panicle hydrangea, butterfly bush, rose-of-Sharon) get pruned in late February or early March. Cedars and most evergreens: late winter or after the spring growth flush. We schedule visits around your specific plant mix so nothing gets pruned at the wrong time.
Do you take away the debris?
Yes. All our trimming and pruning services include comprehensive cleanup. Branches, clippings, and raked debris are bundled and removed from your property, leaving your beds looking pristine.
